Hardwood Floors - Glossary

Hardwood Floors - Hardwood is commonly the term used for certain angiosperm (flowering) trees
like the oaks, birches, maples, and basswood. While the term suggests
otherwise there are no minimum hardness requirement for this type of flooring to
be considered hardwood. In most cases Hardwood is just denser, allowing it to be a popular
choice for the construction of furniture and in houses. Hardwoods offer a number of
choices in respect to natural finish, graining, texture and durability.
They are generally more costly than softwoods, due to supply and workability.
